Digital Literacy Intervention to Assist Formerly Incarcerated Individuals with their Job Search

Our mission is to understand how formerly incarcerated individuals search for jobs and develop tailored digital literacy pedagogy that is useful for formerly incarcerated persons (i.e., returning citizens). Writing a resume, searching for new knowledge or skills using the internet, researching a company, and addressing your online brand are digital literacy skills that are important when acquiring a job. While researchers have been able to describe the challenges of the re-entry process, few have sought to understand the connection between returning citizens’ digital literacy skills and their job search. Our goal is to provide digital literacy training to formerly incarcerated persons and to understand that connection.
